Final Thoughts

Yumi descending from Indian Pass

Wow.  Up until a few years ago I'd never even heard of the Wind River Range, much less knew how beautiful they were.

Even though the trip didn't go exactly as planned, his was truly an incredible trip in many different ways.

The scenery was simply awesome and diverse from beautiful valleys to the stark granite  snow and ice above the tree line. My first good view of Titcomb Basin made it clear to me that next summer's trip will include the "gorge".

Yumi and I also got to see some sections of Yellowstone that we hadn't had a chance to visit three summers ago AND snag one of the coveted creekside camp sites up at the Slough Creek camp ground.

Of course,  the best part was having Yumi along for the ride after she had to take the previous year off due to her sister's death.  Though she wasn't fond of the "horse poops" trail at Elkhart Park or hiking on snow, I think she enjoyed herself except for the missing of fresh fruits and vegetables on the trail.

Typical Wind River scenery

None of this would have been possible without my  wonderful mother agreeing to take in Todd and Matt for the two weeks Yumi and I were gone.  Now that they're teenagers I don't know how much longer she'll want to deal with them!

So another trip is in the books which means there's another to be planned. I'm not sure Yumi will be going on the next one or not, but I do know I'm going back to the Winds.
